Imerco generated substantial growth in 2009/10

Imerco Holding A/S, Denmark’s largest housewares chain by far, with 155 own stores nation-wide, today announces an update concerning initiatives launched in the recently ended financial year 2009/10:

  • Revenue for the year rose by DKK 488 million to DKK 1,099 million from DKK 611 million in 2009, which only covered nine months, however. Based on last year’s comparable 12-month period, Imerco’s revenue was up by more than 6%.

  • Since the new PLAN 100+ strategy was launched in February 2010, Imerco has generated impressive revenue growth of 15% driven by strong organic growth and new stores. This performance is considered highly satisfactory.

  • Imerco has achieved substantial market share growth in 2010 to date. Month by month, Imerco’s sales index outperformed the market in general as represented by official industry data from Statistics Denmark.

  • Imerco opened five new stores, refurbished and expanded six existing stores and closed two stores. The opening of new stores in 2010 was implemented on the basis of a new concept for opening campaigns, which produced a highly satisfactory number of new sales records for Imerco.

  • Imerco has completed the most extensive sales staff training programme in company history. More than 600 sales staff have completed an intensive sales training programme every three months for the past 12 months.

Imerco Holding A/S, a 83%-owned subsidiary of the M. Goldschmidt Holding Group, generated revenue of DKK 1,099 million in the 2009/10 financial year, which covers the period 1 October 2009 – 30 September 2010.

During the year, Imerco opened five new stores in Brabrand, Espergærde, Herning, Hundige and Ishøj, refurbished and expanded six existing stores in Brønshøj, Hellerup, Holte, Nærum, Ry and Rødovre and closed two stores in Copenhagen V and Roslev.

In October 2010, Imerco successfully opened a new store at Aalborg Storcenter, the largest shopping centre in North Jutland with an annual footfall of 6 million. This brought Imerco’s store network to 155 own, physical stores and an online shop, which also generated strong growth throughout the financial year.

Imerco has completed a very extensive training programme for its sales staff. The programme was based on a combination of training days every three months for more than 600 sales staff, followed up by more than 7,500 customer exit interviews every three months.
