The M. Goldschmidt group taking over Kokkedal Castle

The M. Goldschmidt group took over Kokkedal Castle in Hørsholm north of Copenhagen on 1 February, appointing Michael Telling manager of the Castle as of the same date. Starting this summer, he and the experienced and skilled Castle staff will ensure that quality-conscious guests from all over the world will get a unique high-quality experience.

Today, the Castle is the ideal venue for weddings, parties, meetings and conferences, and with the opening of its a la carte restaurant and its new spa, it will also offer exclusive accommodation for individual travellers.

The Castle and the buildings on the estate have undergone top-to-bottom renovation, and this summer the interior decoration and refurbishment is also expected to be completed, in perfect harmony with the architectural period of the Castle. The Castle has 62 unique rooms offering all modern conveniences according to current standards and expectations and also boasts 250 years of interesting royal history.

Originally, the Castle was erected on the orders of Queen Sophie Magdalene of Denmark and Norway, widow of King Christian VI of Denmark. Later, the Castle was successively owned by a number of noblemen and merchants, and after a rather changeable period in recent years, the romantic Castle is now in a well-maintained condition – a majestic pearl surrounded by newly cut lawns and well-pruned old trees. Its views over Oresund, its proximity to the Kokkedal golf course and – more importantly – its short distance to the other royal sights of North Zealand and not to mention a mere 30 minute drive into Copenhagen, makes the Castle an excellent choice for parties, events and for exclusive accommodation.

Today, Mikael Goldschmidt and his group have taken over the operation of the Castle. “To me, Kokkedal Castle is a completely unique property with an interesting history and an absolutely beautiful setting. My ambition is for Kokkedal Castle to become one of the best and most attractive places providing overnight accommodation in Denmark, highlighting quality and experiences, fully in harmony with its royal surroundings,” says Michael Goldschmidt.

This job is in the hands of Michael Telling. He is greatly experienced in hotel renovations, hotel openings and not least high-level hotel operations, earned from, among others, Hotel d'Angleterre and First Hotel Skt. Petri in Copenhagen. “This is an interesting and challenging job, and there is clearly a potential for creating something very unique at Kokkedal Castle,” adds Michael Telling.
