Aquaporin A/S nominated for European Inventor Award

Aquaporin is proud to announce its nomination for this year's European Inventor Award 2014 in the category "Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs)"

The European Patent Office today published the nominated list of finalists for the European Inventor Award 2014, one of the most popular distinctions for inventors worldwide. The list has been compiled by an international jury with renowned figures from politics, business and academia.

Aquaporin's invention, "Membrane for filtering of water" (Patent no. EP1885477, EP1937395) was selected together with 14 other outstanding inventions in five categories from a field of several hundred proposals. Aquaporin will be competing in the category "Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises" as one of only three nominees.

- We are very proud to be nominated for this very prestigious award that truly recognizes inventors who have made an outstanding contribution to innovation, economy and society, says CEO Peter Holme Jensen. – The European Inventor Award is considered “the Nobel Prize of inventorship”, and it is a great acknowledgement of the hard work done by the whole Aquaporin team of maturing the invention into a product soon ready to market.

- We are pleased to learn that our exceptional invention is now being acknowledged with this nomination, says Head of IP Department Marianne Spanget Larsen. - Aquaporin has continuously implemented a patent strategy that advances the strategic business goals of the company.

The winners of the prestigious prize will be announced and honoured at the award ceremony on June 17, 2014 in Berlin, Germany. The award ceremony will be opened by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
